Databases
Saka’s home page lists your databases. Go to app.saka.io, or in the editor choose the Saka logo or File → Return Home.
Your databases live in this browser
Section titled “Your databases live in this browser”Saka keeps databases in the browser’s memory, where all its tabs in one browser profile share them. A private window has databases of its own. Saka does not save databases by itself or send them to a server.
Export a database to keep it. Closing every Saka tab or quitting the browser discards your databases, and reloading the only Saka tab can too. Open the exported file to use the database again. Updating Saka keeps your databases.
The list
Section titled “The list”The list shows each database’s name, its status, and under Opened, when it was created, imported, or copied. The status says where it came from: “Session only” for a new database or a copy, “Imported · session only” for one opened from a file, and “Example copy · session only” for an example. On a wide screen, Source size shows the size of an imported file.
Click a name to open the database. Its actions button, or a right-click on its row, offers Open in new tab, Export Database…, Make a copy, Rename, and Delete.
On a phone, New and Examples are behind the menu button at the top left.
Create or open a database
Section titled “Create or open a database”- New → New Database creates an empty database named “Untitled database” and opens it.
- New → Open Database… opens a
.sakadbfile as a new database in a new tab. Opening the same file twice makes two independent databases. - Examples → Open example opens a fresh copy of an example. CRM Starter is a made-up sales pipeline.
The editor’s File menu also creates and opens databases. If your browser blocks the new tab, choose Open editor in new tab in the notice.
Rename, copy, export, and delete
Section titled “Rename, copy, export, and delete”- Rename: type a name, then press Enter to save or Escape to cancel. In the editor, click the database’s title.
- Make a copy: opens an independent copy of the current contents.
- Export Database…: downloads the modules and stored data as a
.sakadbfile. In the editor, it is in the File menu. The file does not keep the database’s name, your views, or the undo history. - Delete: asks “Delete from this session?”, then removes the database from every tab. Exported files stay on your device.
A database’s address works while the database is open in the session. After it is deleted or the session ends, the address shows “Database is no longer open”.
